Turpin makes OM lose, he clashes with the Marseillais

Since Clément Turpin was appointed to referee the match between OM and Monaco, complaints have been pouring out among Olympian supporters. They are put back in their place.

This Sunday, it will be one of the great classics of the French championship with the poster between OM and Monaco. In difficulty at the Vélodrome, the Marseillais will have to be wary of an ASM team which likes to hurt its opponents and sow doubt. But there is one thing that supporters have been wary of since the start of the week, and that is the referee. Clément Turpin was chosen for this meeting, quite simply one of the best whistles in the world. Despite this status, among Olympian fans, it is believed that the situation is distorted because the referee, often singled out for his native origins in the Rhône, is accused of often participating in the defeat of the Marseille club.

“It’s very simple to explain”

Complaints that Phocéen journalist Romain Haering, despite being a pro-OM media outlet, took up with truth in his show. “ 16% victory for OM under Clément Turpin? I'm going to explain this statistic, and it's very simple. Clément Turpin, he only referees the big matches. And in big matches, for 15 years, we have been zero, zero, zero. All the matches against or were really bad. Obviously Turpin's stats are not good for OM. But he never referees OM- or weaker matches. Afterwards, he is very haughty in Ligue 1 and almost unbearable, but despite everything I consider that he remains a good referee in our championship, and perhaps the best in my opinion », delivered the journalist in a position which has the merit of being clear. And important at a time when everyone is falling on referees every weekend at the moment, and OM even suggested after their victory at OL that there was some form of conspiracy to put obstacles in the club's wheels.

It's up to Roberto De Zerbi's players to be good this Sunday evening, to reverse the statistics of OM's poor results with Clément Turpin.
