If Paul Baysse and Rio Mavuba came out of retirement to help the Girondins de Bordeaux at the start of the season, Cédric Yambéré returned and stayed to strengthen the team in National 2. Something that a certain , Bruno Ecuele Manga.
Bruno Ecuele Manga wanted to return to Bordeaux
The 36-year-old Gabonese central defender, who has been free since this summer and the end of his adventure in Niort, would have liked to join the Bordeaux project at the start of the season. Having passed through Bordeaux between 2006 and 2008, he would have liked to end his career where it began. However, it didn't turn out the way he wanted…
“It’s a challenge that I obviously found interesting. I waited for the athletic director to call me back, but the call never came. I was in the country for two qualifying matches and as captain, I could not leave the selection. It was a matter of days”he explains in an interview with the media Girondins4ever.
Ecuele Manga: “I would have really loved to come and help this magnificent club”
Bruno Ecuele Manga is in fact still a Gabonese international, despite the fact that he is without a club today. The central defender notably started on November 18 to face Central Africa in qualifying for CAN 2025. Proof that he is still in good shape and ready to help any club.
“It was absolutely not about money. At my age, it was the challenge, the desire to help my club, to put it back where it should be. I even agreed to what was offered to me. I didn't understand why I wasn't being called back. It’s a shame, I would have really loved to come and help this magnificent club with all my energy, and thus end my career there”he confides.
“I always remain available, I want to help the club”
Girondins4ever explains that Bordeaux have since recruited Djibril Diaw as central defender and therefore did not need to sign Bruno Ecuele Manga. Except that Diaw has still not been able to play this season, because his transfer certificate is slow to be issued. A situation that has lasted for more than two months.
Bruno Ecuele Manga therefore once again launched an appeal to management: “Afterwards, even today, I always remain available, I want to help the club. If they need me, if they call me, I will be there with great pleasure”.
Passionate about sport and from Toulouse, I am of course a supporter of the great TFC, which has more titles than OM and OL combined over the last ten years.
