Marquinhos' anger against the refereeing of the German goal

After PSG's new poor performance in the Champions League, Tuesday evening on the pitch of Bayern Munich (1-0), Marquinhos deplored the decisions of István Kovács, the Romanian referee of the match.

Another complicated evening on the European scene. Already off to a bad start in this 2024-2025 Champions League, PSG was beaten by Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening on the fifth day (1-0). After Arsenal (2-0) and Atlético de Madrid (2-1), continues its third setback in five games. 26th in the ranking, the Parisians are virtually eliminated.

>> Relive Bayern-PSG (1-0)

PSG owes this defeat to a ball from Matvey Safonov. Established in place of Gianluigi Donnarumma, on a purely sporting choice on the part of Luis Enrique, the Russian goalkeeper poorly cleared an aerial ball from a corner, before Kim Min-Jae propelled the ball into the net (1-0, 38th). An action tainted by a fault, according to Marquinhos.

“I asked the referee what was happening, because a player was blocking him. He's not playing the ball, the goalkeeper can't do anything,” lamented the Brazilian defender on Canal+.

“All the doubts were for Bayern”

“We don't like to talk about the refereeing but he was really difficult against us, he didn't make our job easy,” insisted Marquinhos. “All the doubts were for Bayern. On the goal, someone blocked the goalkeeper. He made his decision, he didn't give a foul…”

PSG then had to do without Ousmane Dembélé for a large part of the second half. Already warned for a challenge in the 37th minute, the Parisian striker received a second yellow card for a late tackle in the 56th minute. “With red, it was difficult,” whispered Marquinhos at the microphone of Canal+.

After five days, PSG are 26th in this league phase, knowing that nine matches are still on the program this Wednesday evening. As a reminder, you have to be in the first 24 to qualify for the play-offs, a sort of round of 16. “If we look at the standings, of course we are worried. We have three games to play, three finals. A home game against Manchester City (January 22), a great team, and two away games (against Salzburg on December 10 and Stuttgart on January 29). Our goal is to qualify. We didn't come here to stay behind,” concluded Marquinhos.
