The referee of the clash between OM and AS Monaco this Sunday is known. And that will not please the people of Marseille.
Since the start of the season, the Marseille club has rarely been helped by the refereeing during big matches. Against Lyon, Leonardo Balerdi received two yellow cards after 4 minutes of play – but OM still won 3-2 -, and against PSG, Amine Harit was sent off after 20 minutes, for a bitter defeat (0-3). Not to mention the lunar exclusions of Derek Cornelius against Nice (2-0) and Neal Maupay against Angers (30th).
This Sunday, against Monaco (2ᵉ), OM will have to grit their teeth, while Clément Turpin has been appointed to officiate the match. The person concerned has already refereed a Marseille match this season, against Montpellier (5-0). Let's hope that it goes just as well against the Principality club, while a statistic reveals that the French team wins only 16% of the time when the person concerned officiates an OM match over the last two seasons.
Note, however, that Clément Turpin often referees big matches in the championship, and that in big matches, Marseille often comes through, and has done so for more than two years…
