On the set of The evening teamthe journalist Stéphane Guy analyzed the victory of Olympique de Marseille (1-3) in Lens, while calling for patience towards the new coach, Roberto DeZerbi. If the result is positive, Guy stressed that it is still too early to fully judge the Marseille team.

Guy asks for patience for De Zerbi

“You have to be patient, you have to give time to a coach, foreign or not”insisted Stéphane Guy. According to him, OM's play has not been convincing this season: “I was not amazed by an OM match”. Guy notably mentioned the first match against , describing the latter as “match completely missed by the Bretons”. For him, the victory against Brest was partly facilitated by an opponent in great difficulty.

He then addressed De Zerbi's situation at OM, highlighting his experience at Brighton, where he demonstrated a great ability to counter big teams. Guy believes that the Marseille coach “will have this intelligence”but recalls that the match against Lens was close and revealed weaknesses: “It came to nothing against Lens, who are not at their best”.

Guy expects more in the game

Stéphane Guy also spoke of OM's difficulties before this victory, in particular after the heavy defeat against before the truce: “When we took the slap they took before the break, he recovered some players late”. In this context, he judges that De Zerbi can be ” happy “ to have won this match, but he insists that the team still has progress to make to find real stability.

In conclusion, Guy calls for patience for OM and their coach, stressing that the victory in Lens, although valuable, is not yet sufficient to judge the evolution of the team.
