This is information that has just come from La Provence: the technical director of the training Marco Otero is laid off by Olympique de Marseille.
Tensions continue at the training center after the Papin – Zarrak clash which finally calmed down after a decision by Pablo Longoria. Provence tells us this Monday that Marco Otero is laid off by the club.
OM already has its replacement?
“OM have just made a radical decision: they have decided to lay off Marco Otero, technical director in charge of training. The sentence fell this Monday afternoon, following a final meeting with the club's councils,” wrote the local daily on its website this Monday.
For the future, OM have already found their man since Otero should leave the club. The Marseillais have already started discussions with Marseille trainer Lassad Hasni. “He who just left OGC Nice just a week ago. Trained at Burel, passed through several amateur clubs in the region, he enjoys a flattering reputation after having cut his teeth at Gémenos where his work and his methods were unanimously praised. » then explains La Provence.
The reserve team will play at Trets, will the training center follow?
Indeed, according to the Team, Trets, which recently hosted the France Espoirs team led by Thierry Henry, benefits from a modern sports complex and quality pitches. During this preparation for the Olympics, the Bleuets coach had also praised the excellent training conditions offered by the town. In recent months, the OM reserves have already trained several times on these pitches, taking advantage of their optimal condition during the renovation work at the Commanderie. Before long, these facilities should also host the matches of the reserve team, currently managed by Jean-Pierre Papin.
The development project of shots is part of a larger reorganization of the Marseille club's infrastructure. Indeed, OM wishes to relieve congestion at the Commanderie, currently too small to accommodate both the professional team and the youth teams. The Cesne stadium, which houses theABOUT Campus since its inauguration in 2018, no longer meets the club's expectations, particularly with regard to the training of young talents. The idea is therefore to create a training center in Trets, while reserving the Commanderie exclusively for professionals.
Frank McCourt is expected to travel to Provence at the end of the week to discuss the next steps in this development. The final choice of site will be decisive for the future of training at OM.
