played a bad trick on ASSE!

This Saturday afternoon, the ASSE players hosted . A very important meeting for the Stéphanoises who are coming off a terrible 11-0 defeat against Olympique Lyonnais. Back home, the Greens were keen to redeem themselves in front of their home crowd.

This match against Montpellier is obviously very important, after what happened last weekend. Before the match, Laurent Mortel appeared in front of the media. The ASSE coach necessarily asked for a real reaction from his players.

“We are going to play 4 consecutive matches at home but we are left with a significant defeat against . We must above all take care of the first match, against Montpellier, without looking at the following ones. We have the duty to show a different attitude than on our last match, but also to do better in the game. Taking a point against a solid team like Montpellier would be a good reaction.”

The composition of ASSE

First half

From the start, Montpellier imposed its rhythm and knew how to realize its opportunities. In the second minute of the match, the visitors already led 1-0. A very bad start which does not reassure the Saint-Etienne residents. ASSE, struggling to contain the opposing offensives, returned to the locker room with a deficit of two goals, a difficult task to overcome. Despite everything, the Stéphanoises tried to react, but Chloé Tapia or even Solène Champagnac did not succeed in deceiving the vigilance of the opposing goalkeeper.

Second half

To try to reverse the trend, Laurent Mortel, the Saint-Etienne coach, made two changes from the restart. Morgane Belkhiter took the place of Faustine Bataillard, while Amandine Pierre-Louis came in to replace Cindy Caputo. These adjustments brought more dynamism, and the Greens showed a conquering face.

Despite interesting situations, the Étienne did not succeed in making things happen. In the 48th minute, Amandine Pierre-Louis, well served in the area, tried her luck, but her shot went over.

Midway through the second half, Sarah Cambot also caused danger from an opening on the left. Her cross, addressed to the far post, seemed perfect, but Solène Champagnac was a little too short to head the ball.

In the 74th minute, a final change was made by the Greens with the exit of Alexandria Lamontagne, replaced by Adèle Connesson.

The Greens will try to bounce back during their next match scheduled for December 7 against Guingamp. Laurent Mortel will have to cope without Chloé Tapia who was excluded at the end of the match.
