60 million less, OM is the deal of the century

Formerly of Juventus Turin, Pablo Longoria wants to make a big move to strengthen the OM midfield.

A Brazilian international at OM is Pablo Longoria's last dream. If the track leading to Paul Pogba is regularly mentioned, there is no chance that the Frenchman will have an immediate impact on the performance of Roberto De Zerbi's team. His suspension will end in March, and his last match was well over a year ago. For a quick contribution, the president of OM has another idea in mind, in a club he knows well. It's about looking for Arthur, a former nugget of Brazilian football who never managed to establish himself in Europe. Interesting with FC Barcelona in a joker role, he was never able to reach the milestone when Andres Iniesta left the Blaugrana club. Sold to Juventus as part of an incredible exchange with Miralem Pjanic, the Brazilian disappeared from the radar, with a catastrophic loan to Liverpool (1 match) but a slight revival in the Fiorentina jersey last season.

Arthur, a transfer that caused a lot of talk

This season, Thiago Motta made it known that Arthur did not fit into his plans, and thus invited him to find a new club. This should be the case this winter since several teams are on the move, including the Brazilian clubs Corinthians and Gremio, but especially OM who approached Juventus for a transfer. An option that makes sense, because according to journalist Rudy Galetti, the midfielder would prefer to stay in Europe at this stage of his career, when he only has 28 years old and a year and a half of contract remaining.

To make this transfer possible, Juventus is asking for 15 million euros. This may seem like a lot for a player who no longer necessarily sells dreams. But it also makes an incredible reduction compared to the amount the Old Lady paid to bring him in 2020, paying more than 74 million euros, including bonuses, in the end. The reduction is therefore significant, even if at the time, the amount of this transfer was considered very suspect. This nevertheless demonstrates that OM still have their chances at an affordable price for a player who still has the ball, even if he has a lot of difficulty confirming his first years at Barcelona.
