The RC Lens should know a market winter lively, but mainly on the departure side. This was announced by Pierre Dréossi, general director of the club, in the columns of The Voice of the North.
RC Lens: A lively winter transfer window in perspective
After a summer marked by difficulties in completing certain sales, notably those of Kevin Danso and Neil El Aynaoui, RC Lens revised its objectives downwards. “Our summer transfer window was not a total success”recognized Dréossi, while the club was aiming for a total sale of 100 million euros to restore its financial health.
Lensois managers now hope to achieve around 40 million euros in sales this winter, far from the 100 million euros initially targeted. “We have interesting assets and already interest from certain clubs. For us, the most difficult thing is not to sell, it is to have a balance between our economic concerns and the sporting objective”explained Pierre Dréossi, the sporting director of RC Lens, who arrived at the club last summer.
Despite the urgency to sell for its financial stability, RC Lens does not intend to sell off its best players. “You’re not going to sell out everyone and find yourself with a wooden team. The winter transfer window will allow us to balance what we could have done, what we could not do this summer”he clarified.
The next few months therefore promise to be decisive for the RCL. The Artesian club will have to succeed in finding the right balance between its sporting ambitions and its financial constraints.
