“the refereeing must be called into question”, Kenny Lala furious after the defeat against Monaco

Stade Brestois lost for the third consecutive time in the League on Friday evening against AS Monaco at the opening of the twelfth day of Ligue 1. A defeat with a score of three goals to two in a nightmarish encounter while lost Pierre Lee-Melou on injury and Éric Roy on expulsion.

A tough defeat for Brest to take before facing FC Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday. Especially since the Brestois seem to have difficulty digesting the refereeing of the match which notably whistled a penalty for ASM on a handball in the Brest area.

“I don’t even want to go back to refereeing”

An arbitration that Kenny Lala, decisive passer for Ludovic Ajorque in the 96th, did not appreciateth minute, who made it known on the microphone of DAZN at the end of the meeting, while assuming the faults of his team in this defeat. “I don’t even want to go back to refereeing. Arbitration must be called into question.”

“The referees have to question themselves but we also, because we conceded chances, we should have been more realistic in the area,” declared the French defender.

Brest must wake up

A criticism which seems little justified at first glance when Mr. Leonard's refereeing did not seem as contentious as Kenny Lala makes it appear. Whatever happens, Brest will have to re-mobilize if it wants to maintain its unbeaten streak in the Champions League against Hansi Flick's FC Barcelona.

In Ligue 1 too, points will be needed quickly during the next matches against , and so as not to see the red zone get too close.
