An emblematic captain of PSG, Marquinhos arrived at the club in 2013 when he was only a young hopeful in Brazilian football at the time. President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi recalls the circumstances of his arrival at the Parc des Princes and specifies that it was he who recommended his transfer to Leonardo, the former sports director of PSG.
From the height of his 30 years and his 456 official matches played in the jersey of the PSG, Marquinhos is undoubtedly one of the legends of the Ile-de-France club. Recruited fromAS Rome in 2013 for €30M, the central defender had everything to prove at the time of his signing for PSG, and managed to climb the ranks as recalled Nasser Al-Khelaïfi at the microphone of RMC Sport.
“I told Leonardo to sign it”
« He's the captain of the team, he's really important, he's one of the best defenders in the world. He played over 400 games with us. I remember his arrival here. I told Leonardo to sign it », explains the president of PSG to pay tribute to Marquinhos.
A future mapped out at PSG
And while his contract with the PSG runs until 2028, Marquinhos also spoke at the microphone of RMC Sport with an announcement that says a lot about its future: “ I hope to stay for another 10 years, that suits me! It's always a pleasure to be in Paris », blurted the Brazilian international.
