OM dismisses Pogba and goes for a Brazilian international

Despite a playing sector already provided with Hojbjerg, Kondogbia, Rongier and of course Rabiot, OM want to strengthen their midfield. The name of Pogba was mentioned but according to the Italian press, the number 1 track in is called Arthur.

As is often the case in recent years, Olympique de Marseille should be active this winter during the transfer window. Roberto De Zerbi's objective is clearly to strengthen his defense and if possible the full-back positions. It is undoubtedly the number 1 project for the Marseille club in January. However, it is in midfield that the tracks are multiplying in the press in recent days. Paul Pogba is notably one of the players followed by Mehdi Benatia, the French international now being free to sign for the club of his choice, he who will be authorized to resume competition in March.

However, the world champion is not OM's No. 1 choice for this position according to information from Nicolo Schira a you Corriere dello Sport. And for good reason, the Italian press affirmed this mid-week that Olympique de Marseille remains very interested in Arthur, the Brazilian international under contract with Juventus Turin until June 2026. The very technical profile of the ex- FC Barcelona player appeals greatly to Roberto De Zerbi, who sees in Arthur a player more compatible with his philosophy than Paul Pogba, in addition to being younger.

Arthur rather than Pogba at OM?

Weighty arguments in the eyes of Olympian leaders, who are increasingly tempted by the prospect of securing the services of the Auriverde international for the 22 selections. Nicolo Schira explains that Betis Sevilla are also interested in the profile of Arthur, who refused offers from Greece and Turkey during the previous summer transfer window. Last summer, OM was already interested but after the signings of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Adrien Rabiot, the Marseille club ultimately did not submit an offer. In this month of January which is looming, the Marseille board could this time go on the offensive.
