Rayan Cherki, attacking midfielder for Olympique Lyonnais, is one of the most sought-after young people in Europe.

On the international stage, Rayan Cherki is also at the center of a battle between several nations. Born in and of Algerian and Italian origins, he is courted by Algeria and Italy, who seek to convince him to join their respective selections. For the moment, the player maintains suspense about his choice, while France keeps a close eye on his development. The international future of the Lyonnais is, however, not the only question surrounding the rest of his career.

What future for Cherki?

According to information from RMC Sport, the English club Liverpool, under the leadership of its coach Arne Slot, is multiplying approaches to attract the prodigy from the winter transfer market. Seduced by his creativity and his technical qualities, the English club is considering a significant offer to convince OL. However, Lyon president John Textor was firm, saying he did not want to give up Cherki this winter. A position which could however evolve in the face of the club's financial constraints and a sufficiently high offer.

Rayan Cherki extended his contract until 2026, with an optional year, strengthening OL's position at the negotiating table. However, the difficulties linked to DNCG restrictions could push the club to consider a transfer. Estimated at 20 million euros this summer, Rayan Cherki now sees his value rise to around 30 million euros. Lyon could, however, resolve to accept a lower sum to balance its accounts. If a departure this winter seems unlikely, the young attacking midfielder could be tempted by a transfer provided he receives solid sporting guarantees. For its part, OL must juggle its sporting ambitions and its financial imperatives, making the management of this issue particularly delicate.
