a Polish defender to strengthen Dall'Oglio's squad?

Can the future of Yunis Abdelhamid still take shape at AS Saint-Etienne? Arriving freely at the Greens last summer after seven years at Stade de , the 37-year-old Moroccan international defender is clearly not at the expected level. In great difficulty since the start of the season, Abdelhamid, who is the captain of ASSE, was relegated to the substitutes' bench by Olivier Dall'Oglio.

From there to thinking that he could leave Saint-Etienne during the next transfer window? This is not a strong trend, but it cannot be completely ruled out, even if on the ASSE side we have been assured that Abdelhamid is working hard to silence the critics, and that Dall'Oglio always seems to count on his defender.

Still, the sports management of AS Saint-Etienne has not ruled out recruiting a defender in January. Among the avenues under study, one leads to a Polish defender who has already played in Ligue 1.

Little used this season in Cagliari where he has been playing since 2023, Mateusz Wieteska is considering a departure during the next transfer window. Taulier of the defense of Clermont Foot during the very good 2022-2023 season of the CF63, the Polish international who arrived from Legia Warsaw where he was captain and with whom he had played in the Europa League, had shown very good things with the Auvergne club.

A solid defender with very good heading, Mateusz Wieteska would certainly be a great pick for ASSE. To be continued…
