Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, the two best enemies in Spanish football, are currently tracking the same Argentine hope.
FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are currently jockeying for the acquisition of Franco Mastantuono, the child prodigy of River Plate.
The 17-year-old is already one of River's strong men and is expected to move to Europe next summer. The two Iberian behemoths therefore say they are ready to welcome him.
Real and Barça jostle
For several months, Real Madrid have been in contact with River and the player's camp regarding a transfer to Spain. However, FC Barcelona are also in the mix, according to Mundo Deportivo. Indeed, representatives of the Catalan club were sent to Argentina last month to watch River's matches and observe the progress of the young attacking midfielder.
Mastantuono is not the only prodigy to be in the sights of both the Blaugrana and the Merengue. This is also the case for Georgian full-back Saba Kharebashvili (16 years old). The battle behind the scenes is therefore likely to rage in the coming weeks and months.
