Like every Monday, the Sainté Night Club met. Nolan Roux, former Ligue 1 scorer and Sylvain (Peuple Vert) commented on the first third of the ASSE championship while looking ahead to the future. Extract.
The Greens lose their best defender
Sylvain (Green People): “In defense? It will be either Abdelhamid or Pétrot, anyway. I don't know, but with the return of Cornud, it will probably be Abdelhamid or Pétrot. Nadé's injury, for me, is a real problem, because he is our best defender. When he plays, it changes a lot of things, especially on the impact of Dylan Batubinsika's performances. I find that Batubinsika is a completely different player when he is accompanied by Nadé.
Obviously, this is explained by the automatisms that they have developed since last season, but also by their complementarity. There's something between them that makes them better together. Now, I hope we have a good surprise during the next four matches.
I hope that Abdelhamid finds a certain cruising speed, even if honestly, I have my doubts. This would be a good time for him to come out of the shadows and prove that he can be a credible option. Thus, during the winter transfer window, the central defender position would not necessarily be a priority. We could say to ourselves: 'Listen, Abdelhamid, in a few matches, he can do the job'.”
ASSE must be able to rely on its defense
Nolan Roux (Ex-ASSE) : “When we play to maintain, as a former player, we want to have a solid defense. Even if sometimes the opposing team increases the attacks, we want guys who hold their own, players who reassure. We does not want to say to himself: “If there is a cross, we concede a goal”. Because that creates a psychosis, the fear of conceding a goal with each opposing attack.
It's true that a strong defense is essential, whether it's to maintain or aim for the rise. The two agree on this point. But I remember that, when I went through clubs where you had to fight not to go down, it sometimes happened that a key player in the defense was suspended or injured. And there, we find ourselves with someone who was not intended to play.
In these moments, with each attack, we grit our teeth a little, we close our eyes hoping not to take it. And it's terrible, because we play with this permanent fear, this lack of serenity. A reliable defense is really the basis for approaching these situations with more confidence.”
