“You are shit”, Didier Deschamps insulted by one of his players!

If he recently gave his support to Didier Deschamps, Marco Simone has in the past clashed with the Basque technician.

Didier Deschamps has had his ears ringing for several weeks. Consequence of the sluggish results of the French team since the start of the year and the numerous controversies which have agitated the Blues, first and foremost the non-selection of Kylian Mbappé this fall. Targeted by most observers, some not hesitating to demand his departure, the French coach nevertheless saw Marco Simone come to his defense.

“We always try to find something new, we are used to seeing coaches last two years in a club or four maximum at the head of a selection… So, as soon as there is a phenomenon of stand-by in the results or the game, we ask ourselves the question: is it time to change? We must not forget that this , under Didier Deschamps and his staff, is vice-world champion! With a final lost to penalties, right? “, he told RMC this weekend.

Didier Deschamps, the huge clash with Marco Simone

The support provided by Marco Simone to Didier Deschamps is surprising given the history between the two men. The former Italian striker has rarely been charitable with the French technician, who was his coach at AS Monaco. The 1998 world champion took his first steps in the profession with a complicated first season, ending in the 14the place in the championship with only three points ahead of relegation.

Didier Deschamps is then very close to abdicating, undermined in particular by his conflict with the Italian striker. However, the two men remained in place in the summer of 2002. But the Monegasque technician decided to marginalize the former Milanese, reaching the breaking point a few months later by taking him out against after only five minutes following the exclusion of Flavio Roma. The next day, Marco Simone explodes. “You don’t shake my hand anymore, you’re not a man, you’re shit,” he tells him, sealing the end of his adventure in the Principality despite the support of President Campora. “My biggest mistake as a coach was to confirm him captain at my arrival”, Didier Deschamps will say about him.
