The Forez club sent a strong message to all the residents of its training center. Indeed, one of the most promising has just signed a three-season professional contract at just 16 years old. He is the club's youngest player to sign a professional contract, ahead of Saint-Maximin and Zouma at ASSE!
Indeed, at just 16 years and 2 months, Djylian Nguessan became the youngest ASSE player to sign professionally. While Allan Saint-Maximin (16 years and 3 months) and Kurt Zouma (16 years and 6 months) also signed their first professional contract at 16, Djylian wants to be earlier.
100% ASSE training
Born in Saint-Nazaire on August 30, 2008, Djylian N'Guessan has played at ASSE since U7. He has completed all the training stages that the club offers up to the professional contract. Quickly upgraded (from pre-training), he even experienced double upgrade seasons. He therefore plays with and against players who are two years older than him.
For example, when he was U15, he was already playing in the national U17s and scored a string of goals (around ten scored that season in the championship). With crazy statistics, Djylian N'Guessan is forging a name for himself among the followers of tomorrow's talents.
Indeed, the French U16 and then U17 international particularly stands out in the national team, with whom he scored 14 goals in 17 matches. Last March, he even won the very famous international tournament in Montaigu.
Impressive precocity
After a 2023-2024 season where the player was decisive on numerous occasions (35 goals in 39 games), he continues to reach the next level. As a reminder, last season, he was U16 so should have played with the U16 R1 if he played with his age category.
- 17 goals in 13 U17 National matches (upgraded by one year)
- 4 goals in 10 U19 National matches (upgraded by two years)
- 2 goals in 2 Gambardella Cup matches
- 12 goals in 14 matches (including 9 starts) with the French U16 team
This season, the young striker is playing with the reserve group. The striker played three matches and scored once. Also, he regularly takes part in friendly matches (and the hopefuls challenge). He distinguished himself with several goals (Andrézieux, OM, Louhans Cuiseaux). Injured for several matches, he was unable to take part in the latest events.
A complex file
Negotiations began several weeks ago. Beyond the competition, it is a file which required increased negotiations with the player's entourage. The club was keen to lock in this player who is being courted by the biggest European clubs. With statistics that inevitably catch the eye of recruiters, ASSE struck a major blow by initialing the signature. Sports coordinator Loic Perrin was delighted.
Loïc Perrin, Sports Director of ASSE: “The professional signing of a player like Djylian is a success for all the cogs at the club. At his age, he already shows great abilities, even if he is only at the start of his career and he There are still many steps to take. He embodies our project which relies on the Training Center to develop young talents. His sense of purpose has already earned him the support of many French and foreign clubs. that he chooses to engage with AS Saint-Étienne shows that it wants to be part of our adventure.”
ASSE has found its scorer?
This young scorer creates curiosity among supporters. However, this season should mainly be spent with the reserve group for him (with possible matches in U19). This distinguished striker whose movements are very interesting and whose finishing is formidable still has steps to overcome before playing in league 1. Technically skilled and mature in his game, he still needs to fill out physically to be ready for adult football . A fact that the young player is aware of, judging by his reaction following his signing.
Djylian N’Guessan: “It’s a lot of pride to sign this first contract because even if it’s not an end in itself, it validates long years of work. Each educator at AS Saint-Étienne has given me something that I allows me to be here today. I thank them all, like my father too, because they were all important. This professional contract is a goal that I wanted to achieve. Now I have a lot of goals. others to look for.”
Djylian N'guessan, tomorrow's 9th? ASSE intends to write history like this from now on…
