Opposed to Lithuania as part of the sixth and final day of the League of Nations, Kosovo, reduced to ten for 45 minutes, pocketed a final success with a short header (1-0).
Back on home soil, while a particularly hostile atmosphere had accompanied its men in Romania, Kosovo welcomed Lithuania this Monday to conclude its Nations League campaign. Looking for success to hope to snatch first place in their group, the Kosovars started the match perfectly with an early opening goal (Jashari 5'). Ultra-dominant during the first act, they saw the game swing in the other direction when the scorer was sent off just before the break. The second period was one-sided but, even when cornered, the locals managed to resist again and again. Goalkeeper Muric made three crucial saves to achieve a success (1-0) that was less valuable than he would have hoped for in Pristina.
This victory and the three points that result from it are actually not enough for Kosovo (2nd, 12 pts) to steal first place from Romania (1st, 15 pts) (subject to the UEFA decision concerning the end of the match between the two teams on November 15). Edon Zhegrova & Co will have to go through the play-offs to try to gain promotion to League B. There is still hope.
The Kosovar composition: Muric – Hadergjonaj, Krasniqi, Aliti, Vojvoda – Zhegrova (Hoti 79'), Rexhbecaj, Berisha (Emerllahu 46'), Jashari – Rrahmani (Bytyqi 46'), Muriqi (Asilani 79')
