“Leaving a club in the middle of the season is never easy” for Jonathan David (LOSC), who dreams of FC Barcelona

At the end of his contract at the end of the 2024-2025 season, Jonathan David spoke about his future and his dream destination in an idyllic future.

The days go by and so do the goals, like pearls even for Jonathan David (24 years old) who should reach the milestone of 100 goals scored with LOSC in the coming weeks. His form, however, is not the only concern for supporters, who are not letting go of #ProlongationDavid on social networks. The latter hope that the Canadian striker will extend his contract with the Lille team, with which he is linked until June 2025.

Aligned with its most assiduous followers, the LOSC management recently made some confidences about it: “We're talking with Jona.” He has a proposal in hand. He said that LOSC is his club. However, our discussions must remain between us”revealed Olivier Létang in an interview given to
Tuttosport. These statements were not enough to silence the rumors, which abound in the press day after day, sending him to one club then to the other as the wind blows.

“This is the team I grew up with”

What is certain is that in his contractual situation, Jonathan David has his destiny in his hands. In the event of departure, two options were recently mentioned by The Athletic. The first is none other than a transfer this winter, at least if he finds a project to his liking and the interested club is ready to pay some serious money. The second is to see his contract through to the end and take advantage of his status as a free player to manage his opportunities.

In the columns of the Anglo-American media, the Canadian seemed to dismiss the option of a premature departure: “Leaving one club to move to another in the middle of the season is never easy. It's not like at the start of the season when you have a pre-season, you get to know your teammates, you have time to bond. In January, things are very hectic. It’s about the present moment and it’s more difficult”he insisted.

In his eyes, staying at LOSC for six more months is not a potential problem: “Some people might say it’s a downgrade if I stay at Lille, saying I’m stagnating. But for me, there are always opportunities to improve (in Lille or elsewhere, editor's note). In the air I can improve. Head and score. I can put myself in good positions and win heads, but the final touch, I'm still missing something. With my back to the goal, I can also improvecontinues Jonathan David, whose dream is to one day defend the colors of FC Barcelona. At least this is the club he evokes if everything took place in an ideal world. (Barcelona) was always the team I supported growing up. When you grow up supporting a team, it's your dream to play for them.”he concluded thus for The
Athletic
