this recruit still waiting…

Since the start of the 2024 season, Gerónimo Rulli, the Argentinian international, has established himself as the undisputed starter in goal for Olympique de . The 32-year-old goalkeeper put in solid performances and confirmed his place, leaving little room for competition. But behind him, another goalkeeper is biding his time: Jeffrey De Lange, recruited this summer at the same time as Rulli. Currently a substitute, the Dutchman has not yet had the chance to play in an official match.

In an interview for Provencehis father, John Langespoke up to defend his son. He explained that Jeffrey continues to progress on a daily basis, even without competitive playing time. “He works very hard in training, and he still needs to show his qualities”he confided. For him, competition with Rulli poses no problem. “A big club like OM needs two good goalkeepers, it’s not a problem to come as number 2”added Jeffrey’s father.

De Lange, an understudy in waiting

John De Lange also highlighted the very good relationship between the two goalkeepers, specifying that they each learn from the other. “They support each other and progress together”he explained. This healthy cooperation between the two men could be crucial for De Lange's progression, even if he remains in Rulli's shadow.

Jeffrey's profile, renowned for his ability to play with his feet, perfectly matches the playing philosophy of Roberto DeZerbithe Marseille coach. Among young peopleAjaxDe Lange has been trained to play a key role in building the play from goal, an aspect that particularly pleases the Italian coach. “Jeffrey is comfortable with this style of play”said his father.

Olympique de Marseille therefore seems to have relied on two quality goalkeepers, and the healthy competition that exists between Rulli and De Lange could be beneficial for the future of the club.
