Victim of a heavy tackle in training last August, Morgan Sanson has still not started his season with OGC Nice. The midfielder thought he would return after a few weeks of absence. But the Gym's medical staff was completely wrong in their diagnosis.
Satisfied with Morgan Sanson's performance during his loan last season, OGC Nice exercised the purchase option this summer. The Riviera club spent the 4 million euros negotiated to conclude its final transfer. But since the start of the year, Aiglons coach Franck Haise has still not had the opportunity to field his midfielder in competition. The former Olympique de Marseille player played five preparation matches.
The medical staff’s dumpling
Then last August, a strong tackle from a youngster from the training center caused his ankle injury. Nothing serious, initially thought the medical staff who had spotted a major sprain and damage to the ligaments. A few weeks of absence should be enough for his recovery. However, Morgan Sanson, still suffering from severe pain a month later, himself requested further examinations which revealed two fractures.
« After three or four weeks, the diagnosis did not correspond to the basic diagnosis and the medical staff had the humility to question their initial diagnosis.explained Nice performance director Laurent Bessiere to L’Equipe. When we don't put an exact word on an injury, it can be very frustrating but we have not aggravated the injury and in no case has the player been put in danger. » The fact remains that Morgan Sanson, absent since the start of the season, took the situation badly. Especially since the Le Mans-trained midfielder still does not know the date of his return to the field. Everything will depend on how he feels after returning to racing last week.
