Already qualified for the quarter-finals of the Nations League, Portugal will face a team that finished second in its group during the first phase.
For Portugal, the essentials have been assured. If Roberto Martinez's players will face Croatia this Monday evening, in order to close the group stage of the Nations League, they have already validated their first place, and therefore their qualification for the next round.
In the quarter-finals of the competition, the Portuguese national team will face a team which finished in second position in its group. Focus on these nations that Portugal could face in the next round.
Portugal's likely opponents
While waiting for the last day of this group stage of the League of Nations, which will pit it against Croatia in a match with very relative stakes, Portugal can already plan for the rest of the events. In the quarter-finals of the competition, the Portuguese will face a second ranked player, during a double confrontation which will give access to the semi-final.
Second in Group B, which included Belgium and France, Italy is one of Portugal's likely opponents. This is also the case for the Netherlands who, as the last day of the group stage approaches, are already assured of finishing in second position in their group behind Germany.
Finally, Portugal could also face Denmark or Serbia, who are currently fighting for second place in a group dominated by Spain. The two competing teams will face each other this Monday evening in Serbia, while a draw would suit the Danish camp, which currently has two additional points.
