An important starter since his arrival at Olympique de Marseille, Chancel Mbemba has not played this season and will no longer wear the Marseille jersey. This decision was taken by Marseille management due to the contractual situation of the Congolese, who is in his last year of contract, and following several disputes between the two parties.
Mbemba wants to leave OM in January
A departure from OM this winter would be best for everyone, but this file being quite complex, nothing is certain. While he returned to the field with the selection of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Chancel Mbemba took the opportunity to discuss his future.
“I have a contract with Marseille. I hope (change clubs in January, Editor's note), when God wants, glory to God. But when God doesn't decide, humans do. Humans are complicated on this earth. Everyone looks at their own interests. The most important thing is that we do our job to satisfy everyone”declared the 30-year-old player at the microphone of Canal + Afrique.
Brest is interested in Mbemba
Chancel Mbemba, who received good offers this summer but declined them, would therefore like to change clubs this winter. A club is already in the process of positioning itself on the file. This is the Stade Brestois, according to the Quotidien du Sport.
Sparkling in the Champions League but disappointing in Ligue 1, Brest wants to strengthen and above all expand its squad during the next winter transfer window. The arrival of an additional central defender is therefore hoped for by Eric Roy, who mainly wants fairly experienced players or who at least know Ligue 1.
A complicated deal…
The profile of Chancel Mbemba, very good for two seasons at OM, therefore completely corresponds to the profile sought by Brest. The Finistère club is currently in discussions with the Marseillais and his entourage.
Note that Stade Brestois would be greedy in this matter and would ask in particular that Chancel Mbemba be released from his last six months of contract by OM, which seems difficult to envisage given the dispute between the two parties, and that Mbemba accepts to make significant sacrifices on his salary.
This deal seems quite complicated today even if the Brest project could please the Congolese defender. Indeed, Brest should play in the final stages of the Champions League during this second part of the season and is not left behind in the race for European places in the championship.
Passionate about sport and from Toulouse, I am of course a supporter of the great TFC, which has more titles than OM and OL combined over the last ten years.
