FC Mercato: a good move to play at OL in January?

Interested in the services of Anthony Lopes during the summer transfer window, could FC try again on time? The Rhone club must downsize massively this winter.

Put under pressure by the DNCG, OL did not panic. Yesterday, John Textor reiterated his full confidence in his club remaining in Ligue 1 at the end of this season.

However, the OL boss mentioned “a deficit of €100 million” for OL and thinks he has found the perfect lever to fill this hole: reducing the payroll. On this point, it is almost without having to scratch their heads that decision-makers will make significant savings next year.

Lopes to be relaunched in January?

With the end of the contract of several of the highest paid players in the group, the club is counting on a drastic reduction in the payroll, which would fall, according to their forecasts, from €128.4 million in 2024-2025 to €74.3 million. in 2025-2026.

“We have too many players today,” says Textor. Ideally, we would need 23 or 24.” Among them is a certain Anthony Lopes who earns 400,000 euros per month and implicitly cited among the excess players. Could FC Nantes, interested in the OL goalkeeper this summer and following in the footsteps of Japanese goalkeeper Sion Suzuki this winter, finally get their hands on him in the next transfer window?
