OM: Payet pushed the envelope too much with Guendouzi

After three years spent at Olympique de , between 2021 and 2024, Mattéo Guendouzi (25 years old) is having a blast in the ranks of Lazio Rome and is fondly remembered by Dimitri Payet.

Mattéo Guendouzi left a good memory at OM. Among Marseille supporters, his always combative state of mind and his ability to wear down opponents and subdue them will go down in history.

Now leader of Lazio Rome, where he seems to be fully fulfilled, the French international midfielder should start tomorrow with the Blues against Italy in Milan (8:45 p.m.). In the meantime, the 25-year-old remembered fond memories of Dimitri Payet.

“He says that because I typed it last time…”

During a recent interview with L'Équipe, Payet criticized Guendouzi by claiming that he was bad at pétanque. The latter replied in a tone of irony: “He says that because I typed it the last time he came to the house. »

More seriously, Payet also recalled that if his former teammate at OM started to have statistics, he could become a world-class player. Guendouzi appreciated: “It’s nice, especially from a guy like Dim’. We laughed about it when we were at OM, we did finishing exercises after training and I wasn't the best. Especially with guys like him, (Arkadiusz) Milik, (Cengiz) Ünder… It's an important milestone for a midfielder to pass. »
