The initiative is rare enough to be highlighted. Benjamin André, a well-known face of the French championship, has agreed to take a position in the FFF electoral campaign. The captain of Losc, aged 34, appears in 15th position on the dissident list led by Pierre Samsonoff, the only opponent of the current president Philippe Diallo.
He is not the only high-level athlete seduced by the former general director of the Amateur Football League (LFA) and deputy director of the FFF. The midfielder is accompanied by his retired friend Romain Danzé. When they played together at Stade Rennais, the two men became club delegates within the National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP) in 2018-2019.
Former international Valérie Gauvin (37 caps, 17 goals), now retraining, is also one of the personalities supporting Samsonoff. The latter tells the Parisian that he has known Benjamin André for around ten years. “We will adapt, in agreement with our club, the level of request. But this is done in good intelligence. And having real players on the ground within the Comex seems to us to be a plus in the debates that we will have to have,” specifies the 47-year-old man who resigned from the FFF in 2021 and intends to represent grassroots football.
We also know the identity of the candidates behind outgoing president Philippe Diallo. The “3F” in fact validated the composition of two lists on Thursday evening on its website. A certain number of changes should be noted compared to the Comex currently in office – which supported Noël Le Graët in March 2021, before he resigned in February 2023 in favor of Vice-President Diallo).
Exit therefore the presidents of the League Éric Borghini and Albert Gemmrich, or even the former Bleue Laura Georges. Jean-Michel Aulas retains a role of number two. Two women also appear in the position of general secretary (Joëlle Monlouis, former vice-president of the Paris Ile-de-France League) and general treasurer (Véronique Laine, elected to the Executive Bureau of the Amateur Football League).
Beyond Aulas, Philippe Diallo can boast of strong support within the professional world. Which could tip the electoral balance in his favor, because he represents 37% of the votes in the Federal Assembly. Marc Keller and Baptiste Malherbe, presidents of RC Strasbourg and AJ Auxerre, have chosen to participate in its “The football we love” list, as has the general director of FC Metz Hélène Schrub.
The vote will be organized on Tuesday, December 10, and the results announced on Saturday, December 14 in the federal assembly.
