During a press conference this Tuesday under the banner of the French team, Lucas Chevalier returned to his reunion with Mike Maignan, his former mentor at LOSC.
Barely arrived and already hazed, Lucas Chevalier began his adventure with the Blues this Monday by climbing the steps of Clairefontaine. Less than 24 hours later, the LOSC goalkeeper already finds himself in front of the media, thrown to the front, to answer multiple questions.
One of them obviously hit the mark with the Lille goalkeeper who, upon discovering the French team, found Mike Maignan: “Seeing Mike again made me very happy. It's been three years since we really saw each other. We used to chat by FaceTime or simply by messages. Seeing him face to face again was already nice. It made him happy too, I think. Putting the gloves back on with him will be a bit emotional, obviously, even if we're here for work, of course.”Lucas Chevalier responded instinctively, happily.
But what was the importance of Mike Maignan for this young 23-year-old goalkeeper? “Yes, he was an example at one point. At 16-17 years old, when you are young, with a goalkeeper of this stature at that time, you look, your eyes are wide. I was quite attentive to what he was doing and I was able to pick up certain things from him. It was what I had on hand (smile). As we go along, we build ourselves, but we need a little help at some point. He was there at the right time and I thank him for that. We meet again here, we said so and the story is nice”he concluded with a big, very big smile at a press conference.
