The endless nightmare of Real Madrid

Real Madrid has been facing a black streak since last year without finding a rational explanation for the problem.

In crisis after the defeat against Milan, Real Madrid raised its head this weekend against Osasuna: a 4-0 victory at the Santiago Bernabeu and the feeling that Carlo Ancelotti has (finally) managed to mobilize his players in the face of the situation . Barça lost at the same time and only 6 points separate the two clubs, knowing that Madrid has a game in hand.

Unfortunately, this victory was not as beautiful as it should have been and for good reason, the Madrid coach lost 3 players in one afternoon. Half time. Rodrygo may not play again in 2024 according to information from the Cope while Lucas Vazquez will be absent for around a month, again according to the Spanish press.

The black series continues

Even more problematic was the injury to Eder Militao during this game. The Brazilian suffers from another rupture of the cruciate ligaments and this time in his other leg. His season is over and the Madrid defender has just made Real Madrid reach a chilling level: 10 cruciate ligament ruptures in the space of 15 months.

Indeed, the club's nightmare began in August 2023 when Thibaut Courtois was injured even before the start of the season. Two days later, the same Eder Militao followed him with a ruptured cruciate ligament in San Mamés during the first day of La Liga.

Barely a month later, it was Caroline Weir (women's team) who suffered a similar injury during a match with Scotland during a Champions League match. Then 4 weeks later, again among the girls, Carla Camacho said goodbye to her season. The fourth rupture of the cruciate ligaments in two months at Real Madrid.

Then, it was David Alaba's turn on December 17, 2023. An injury which hurt Real Madrid's defense even more and almost a year later, the Austrian has still not returned from his injury. A return is hoped for at the beginning of 2025.

Unfortunately, the 2024-25 season did not start any better than the previous one in Madrid. As early as pre-season, young Cesar Palacios strained his ligaments while making a first appearance for Carlo Ancelotti's side. Mesonero followed shortly after and finally Joan Martinez, the young Madrid nugget who had a card to play this season in the Madrid squad.

Finally, Real Madrid has just suffered two hard blows in the space of a few weeks. The Bernabeu will not forget the cries of Dani Carvajal last October 5 against Villarreal nor those of Eder Militao this weekend against Osasuna. Two injuries which remind us of 15 months of misfortune in Madrid.
