Lacazette blows hot and cold on his future at OL

The sole scorer in this 125th derby, Alexandre Lacazette gave OL three important points on Sunday evening. However, joy will certainly give way to sadness since the captain half-heartedly admitted his departure at the end of the season.

John Weaver said it himself, it couldn't be otherwise. For this return of the derby, the 125th in history, it had to be a Lyonnais to come and play the saviors this Sunday evening at Parc OL. And who other than Alexander Lacazette to put on this costume. This has been the case since his return toOL in the summer of 2022 and despite a difficult start to the season, the captain woke up at the best of times. Already a scorer at Hoffenheim Thursday, Lacazette finished this week with a second goal. Except that this one really brought OL three points. Logically, there was emotion among the scorer, who was playing his very first derby this Sunday at Parc OL. Perhaps the last, as he whispered to our colleagues at DAZN. “This (Sunday) evening, it was especially the heart. It’s my first at Parc OL, surely the last too.”

The Lyon supporters have not yet had time to fully savor this 47th victory in a derby (1-0) as they were quickly brought back to earth. At the end of his contract with OL at the end of the season, Alexandre Lacazette should therefore not extend his lease with his training club and thus hope to be able to catch up with Fleury Di Nallo. Certainly believing he had said too much on , the captain preferred to kick in touch when the question was asked to him in the mixed zone. “It's been quite a few years since I last played a derby. It was my first at Parc OL so I'm happy. Want to play more? That would be good, but it's not not the time to talk about it. I'm going to take advantage of this evening to celebrate this victory.”

It's called blowing hot and cold, but the damage unfortunately seems to be done regarding the future of the Lyon captain…
