Two months before the opening of the winter transfer window, PSG's sports management is considering the recruitment of two players with a very specific profile in January according to L'Equipe.
If Luis Enrique reminded us that it would not be decisive and that there would still be four matches to play, the PSG/Atlético clash this Wednesday evening is a turning point to be negotiated for the Parisian club in its European season. In an ideal world, PSG will still play the Champions League at the start of 2025 (it will have two C1 matches in January no matter what) and intends to be active during the winter transfer window.
PSG still looking for a winger
In today's edition, L'Equipe reveals the plans of Luis Campos and Luis Enrique for the January transfer window. Like last summer, PSG is still looking for a winger capable of intensifying the competition, particularly on the left wing of Bradley Barcola. Despite the French international's big start to the season, already the author of 8 goals and 2 assists, Luis Enrique wants another solution at the winger position.
Not so surprising since the Spanish coach doesn't really have an alternative to Ousmane Dembélé on the right wing, with Lee Kang-in often used as a false nine. According to the sports daily, the recruitment of a right-handed winger who can play on the left with a false foot is one of the options studied by PSG, which is not good news for Désiré Doué.
A right-handed central defender also hoped for
In addition to a winger, PSG will also be on the lookout for possible market opportunities this winter. According to L'Equipe, the position of right-handed central defender is thus particularly targeted. Luis Enrique repeated at a press conference on Tuesday all the good things he thought of Marquinhos, but the club wants to anticipate the future and start preparing for his succession, especially since right-hander Milan Skriniar no longer really has a future at the club.
Concerning this future right-handed central defender, PSG is looking for a young player, but with already some high-level experience. Last summer, Luis Campos broke his teeth over the expensive Leny Yoro file, who ultimately signed for Manchester United for €62 million plus €8 million in bonuses.
At the end of August, PSG also positioned itself on Tomas Araujoright-handed central defender from Benfica, aged 22. Holder this season and also capable of helping out on the right, this Portuguese international hopeful is under contract until 2028 in Lisbon, with a release clause set at €100 million.
