As was announced, Pablo Longoria finally took a definitive position in the big dispute between Jean-Pierre Papin and Ali Zarrak. The OM boss, however, did not get wet.
A few days before Frank McCourt's arrival in Marseille, Pablo Longoria was well aware that the revelations on the big disagreement between Jean-Pierre Paon, coach of the Olympique de Marseille reserve team, and Ali Zarrak, head of the group Pro 2. This Monday, JPP was once again received by the Marseille president, who wanted to hear the legend of Olympique de Marseille one last time before making a decision. At the same time, he also spoke with Ali Zarrak, and according to La Provence, Pablo Longoria did not dare to show one of the two the exit. Jean-Pierre Papin will therefore remain in charge of the OM reserve team, while Ali Zarrak will have a new mission, namely “ the study of European clubs on the operating methods with reserve teams, scouting and the transfer window. »
OM does not decide on the case
In other words, Zarrak and Papin will no longer work directly together, which will inevitably help to reduce the enormous tension that reigned internally. We remember that JPP felt in danger, even admitting to having been the target of threats, which forced the club to put the home of the 1991 Ballon d'Or under protection. Jean-Pierre Papin, however, was not completely heard, since he wanted Olympique de Marseille to choose between Ali Zarrak and him, which the club ultimately did not do. To see if this new organization will work sustainably, even if Pablo Longoria did everything to calm things down and remind the two men that they had to accept this new version of cohabitation. After several weeks of internal crisis, OM now hopes for a return to calm.
