This Monday, Canal+ celebrates its 40th anniversary. The opportunity for the encrypted channel to broadcast a clip which obviously reserves a good tackle for Ligue 1.
On November 4, 1984, the Canal+ channel was launched in France, and very quickly some announced the rapid death of what was then the fourth channel. But, notably thanks to Football, since C+ broadcasts its first match, Nantes-Monaco, on November 9, but also to the porn film on the first Saturday of the month, Canal+ has managed to establish itself not only in France, but to become a huge global group. However, for the first time in 40 years, Ligue 1 has completely disappeared from the air, DAZN and Beinsports having recovered all of the Championship matches, and the LFP refusing to allow the Franco-Qatari sports channel to share its match. So, in its clip celebrating its 40th anniversary, Canal+ slipped in a good tackle to Ligue 1 and at the price mentioned last year by Vincent Labrune.
Canal+ did not miss Ligue 1
In a clip scripting the history of Canal+, a sequence is a special dedication to the president of the Professional Football League and the leaders of the Ligue 1 clubs. We did everything for French football, is that how we get thanked? », says a person to a caller on the telephone. Next to him, another person asks him: “ How much ? ”, before hearing the answer: “ 1 billion » and to retaliate “ it's not just Ligue 1 “. Then this short film continues with images of Formula 1 and the legendary “ speed up, speed up » by Julien Fébreau during Pierre Gasly's victory in 2020. A little reminder to show that Canal+ had clearly managed to do without the French football championship, even if it should be remembered that the Bolloré group dropped 480 million euros per season to broadcast all European cups.
