Having played for PSG, Nantes and even Italy, Nicolas Laspalles had a rich career in Europe before retiring in 2004 after a final stint at Guingamp. Now coach of Lannion in Regional 3, the former right-back looked back on his career, in particular on the regrets which accompanied his arrival at PSG in 1998.
In July 1998, Nicolas Laspalles left Guingamp to engage with PSG. The right-back then made the choice to stay in France, when a career abroad was available to him.
Laspalles had touches in England
« Before going to Paris, there had already been Nantes, but also Lyon and Lazio Rome. The year before, it was Tottenham, but I said no because I wasn't ready. I could have signed for Lens too, when I was on loan there” let go Laspalles during an interview given to The Team.

But looking back, the former player regrets his signing for PSG. “I think I wasn't ready to go to PSG (in the summer of 1998). I should have had an intermediate step. You go from Guingamp, 8,000 inhabitants, to the capital… I had this stage in Lens and it went better when I returned to Paris » he confided. Laspalles will only stay one year PSG. He will subsequently join the FC NantesThen Lecce in Italy.
