Second winner for the French team

Even before kick-off, the Bleuets knew what was at stake: a victory against Cyprus, host country of the mini-tournament, would allow them to secure their place for the 2nd qualifying round of Euro 2025 and play a decisive mini-final against Slovakia on Monday. With the Slovaks' victory against Gibraltar earlier in the day (7-0), the Bleuets began their second match with three points and two goals behind their next opponents.

From the first minutes, the French took control of the Cypriot camp. However, like Thibo Negre (19th), they were a little imprecise in the finish. But their clear superiority was soon reflected on the scoreboard. Following a corner hit by Ilan Assongo and poorly cleared by the Cypriot defense, the Bleuets captain, Hermann Diandaga, headed the ball back into the axis, allowing Rémi Himbert to emerge and place the ball out of reach. 'Andreas Andreou (0-1, 22nd), scoring his third goal in two games.

Eleven minutes later, Ilyas Azizi stood out in his turn: well positioned at the far post, the striker took Himbert's cross to widen the gap (0-2, 33rd).

In the second half, the French knew how to manage their advantage while creating several dangerous chances, without succeeding in making them come true. In the standings, and Slovakia are now qualified and tied on points. However, with nine goals scored in two games compared to eight for the Bleuets, the Slovaks would finish at the top of the group in the event of a draw on Monday.
