Nikola Maksimović joined Montpellier Hérault yesterday afternoon. While his name had not been released, nor even that recruitment was underway, at a press conference, Jean-Louis Gasset mentioned this obligatory reinforcement:
“(To move forward?) We work. The problem is the defensive sector. When you concede 29 goals in 9 games, that means there is something wrong. So working with operational players or building on a brilliant idea, and finding someone who could come and strengthen us. A very good player who brings us something, whether he is operational immediately, inexpensive and free of any contract. Our senior players like Kouyaté, Jullien or Omeragic will not be operational immediately. Some will not return until January, while for others it will last 4 to 6 weeks. We are in an emergency.«
Reading these words, if the contract is validated on time, it will not be surprising to see the Serbian international start the game.
The pailladin coach also had a word on the evil eye which falls on this defensive sector:
“The defensive problems are a whole. It’s a team that defends. We should not just target two or three players but there, the cascade of injuries in the central sector is still worth noting. Even the young person who has the qualities and who shows up, finds himself suspended. Little Dzodic. The only one operational is Modibo but last week he had a kneecap problem (Editor’s note: he is suitable for Le Havre). There is something wrong with this post.«
