PSG: a big blow for DAZN after the Classic?

Expected by many observers, the Classic between Olympique de and Saint-Germain came to an end last week. Outrageously dominated by their Parisian rival, OM lost heavily with a score of three goals to zero. If it is true that the start of the match was completely to PSG's advantage, the early expulsion of Amine Harit killed any suspense (20th). In addition to the Marseillais, this match was also a big blow for DAZN. While he was counting on this meeting to best sell his product, the main broadcaster of our Ligue 1 became disillusioned.

The Classic did not lead to an increase in subscribers!

Estimated at 500,000 three weeks ago by L'Equipe, the number of subscribers has not really changed according to the sports daily, which reveals that the media aimed to attract 90,000 new subscribers thanks to this shock. Failed since it was hacking which still predominated with more than 150,000 followers on the Telegram application. For comparison, in its first year of broadcasting L1, Prime Video already had 1.7 million subscribers at that time of the year. An abysmal gap when even Mediapro (which subsequently flopped) had 600,000.

Suffice it to say that the objective of attracting 1.5 million subscribers by the middle of next season is a long way off. And if it is not reached by December 1, 2025, DAZN will then have a chance to terminate its contract and exit in the middle of its second season, in the same way as the LFP. Enough to further plunge French football into uncertainty.
