Barcelona have been at the limit of their possibilities this summer, with several difficulties encountered within their squad.
The club had to rely on injuries to Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen to be able to register Pau Victor and Dani Olmo via an emergency rule. Since then, they have called on Wojciech Szczesny to replace Marc-André ter Stegen on the same basis.
Despite the “good work” described by president Joan Laporta and La Liga president Javier Tebas, Barcelona remain well above their salary limit and with little room to maneuver, according to Sport. With this in mind, sporting director Deco probably won't be able to do much during the transfer window.
Reduced room for maneuver for Barça
The main goal is simply to bring Andreas Christensen back from injury and roster him, which will provide Hansi Flick with depth in defense. Although Ronald Araujo is expected soon, the use of Jules Koundé at right-back and Eric Garcia in midfield has left Flick with fewer options than expected. On several occasions, he called on Barca Atletic's Sergio Dominguez as a result.
It should be noted that the Catalan daily claims that Christensen must be registered again, although other media affirm that in fact it is Olmo and Victor who must be registered in January. It is certain that Araujo should be back once he recovers from his injury, and the same is expected of Christensen.
