This Tuesday evening, the French women's team, led by Laurent Bonadei, faced Switzerland in a friendly match, after their meeting against Jamaica. These matches aim to prepare for Euro 2025. ASSE striker Cindy Caputo, who came on in the previous match, was this time a starter with the Blues.
For this second meeting, the French faced the Swiss. The coach had a nice surprise in store for Cindy Caputo, starting her from her first meeting in the tricolor jersey.
First assist for Cindy Caputo!
For this match, the French coach opted for a 4-3-3, integrating several young players, including Lou Bogaert and Jade Le Guilly. He also offered a first tenure to Cindy Caputo and Kelly Gago. After a first alert, where Switzerland obtained a dangerous free kick, the Blues reacted well, in particular with a shot from Bogaert which skimmed the target. However, in the 25th minute, a penalty caused by a handball from Gago allowed Ramona Bachmann to open the scoring for Switzerland.
But the former Stéphanoise quickly reacted by equalizing in the 34th minute, seizing a good opportunity to put France back in the match. A 100% Green goal, since Cindy Caputo delivered the decisive pass! The first half thus ended with a parity score, despite the lack of clear chances.
A second half without ASSE players
In the second half, after several changes, including the exits of Gago and Caputo, the Swiss regained the advantage in the 54th minute thanks to a shot into the top corner from Naomi Luyet. France tried to react with chances from Kenza Dali and a dangerous cross from Le Guilly, but without success. At the end of the match, Constance Picaud even had to brilliantly save a cross shot from Alisha Lehmann.
Despite several attempts at the end of the match, the Blues failed to equalize, even hitting the post on a recovery from Le Guilly (83rd). The French therefore leave with a defeat, but this match allowed them to test new configurations for the next games.
A successful first for Caputo
For her first rally, Cindy Caputo scored points with the coach, Laurent Bonadei, and his staff. After coming on in the 75th minute in the first match, the Saint-Etienne striker this time played the entire first half.
