Nasser Al-Khelaifi never responded to the commission of inquiry

This Wednesday, the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the management of professional released its conclusions after hearing most of the players in French football, except Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

President of Saint-Germain and boss of Bein Sports, Nasser Al-Khelaifi was invited to come and speak before the parliamentary commission of inquiry which for weeks focused on French professional football. During this period, elected officials received many players in this sector, notably Vincent Labrune, who was spared during a very long question-and-answer session. But at least the president of the Professional Football League did not shy away. Because this Wednesday, Michel Savin and Laurent Lafon, who led this work, recognized that Nasser Al-Khelaifi, whom he wanted to hear on different subjects and for example on his presence within the LFP as boss of PSG, but also in the file rights with the Franco-Qatarian sports channel, never responded to their invitation.

The PSG boss never responded to the invitation

The parliamentary commission of inquiry had no way of imposing on Nasser Al-Khelaifi and obviously the latter knew it very well. “ Nasser Al-Khelaifi did not escape our committee, but he did not respond to our invitations to come to the hearings. We are limited in investigative power. We regret it, we had questions to ask him », recognized the commission’s rapporteur. For his part, the president of this commission, Laurent Lafon, recognizes that this attitude is not very correct on the part of the president of Paris Saint-Germain: “ We take note of his decision not to be interviewed. We regret it, including for the sake of transparency and communication “. We can obviously wonder if this work can have a real impact on French football, if those concerned can so easily escape the questions. In the meantime, elected officials will give recommendations, and only recommendations, to know whether they will be followed up on or not.
