Lionel Messi returns to torment Real Madrid

Lionel Messi has won the Club World Cup three times (2009, 2011, 2015) during his brilliant career. He is now preparing for a final challenge.

La Pulga will now have the chance to participate in the new formula of the Club World Cup, which will be extended to 32 teams from 2025.

On Saturday, Messi’s Inter Miami won the Supporters Shield after a 6-2 victory over New England Revolution, a match in which the Argentine magician scored a hat-trick in 12 minutes. FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced that the MLS team has qualified for the 2025 Club World Cup, according to Diario AS.

Messi, the last duel

Inter Miami joins Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund in the competition. For Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez, they could face Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid one last time, since the two La Liga clubs are also qualified.

FC Barcelona will not be present, having failed to go far enough in the Champions League last season. However, fans will keep an eye on how their former player performs in the United States next summer.
