AS Saint-Étienne can look forward to the highly anticipated derby against Olympique Lyonnais on November 10. Indeed, Lucas Stassin, the Belgian striker of the Greens, will be present for this key meeting. Initially, his participation was compromised due to the Euro U21 play-offs, which Belgium must play in November against the Czech Republic. The dates of these play-offs coincided with the derby, scheduled for November 10.

However, a change in the UEFA calendar brought good news for the Stéphanois. The play-offs will finally take place from November 14 to 19thus allowing Lucas Stassin to be available to face OL. This modification is a relief for ASSE, who will be able to count on their striker in good shape.

Olivier Dall’Oglio, the coach of the Greens, spoke about the situation during a press conference, emphasizing the importance of the experience acquired by Stassin with the Belgian selection. “He scored twice, and even though he didn’t score in the second game, he had chances and hit the post. It’s positive for him, because a striker needs confidence,” said he declared.

As for whether Stassin will leave in November for the play-offs, Dall’Oglio remains cautious. “We will discuss it, and if we are asked for our opinion, it is clear that we prefer to have it with us to continue working and progress.” But for now, what matters for ASSE is the presence of the Belgian striker for this crucial derby against their historic rival.

With this news, AS Saint-Étienne will be able to approach the match with one more offensive asset in its squad, hoping that Stassin’s positive dynamic in the selection will have an impact on his performances at club.
