Ligue 1 – Daniel Riolo on the financial difficulties of FC : “There is perhaps a social plan looming”

If the TV rights of the Ligue 1now owned by DAZN and beIN Sportsended up finding a buyer, the case seems far from closed. Almost every week, new issues arise and continue to shake up the French football ecosystem. The Qatari channel and the LFP are still at an impasse regarding the co-broadcast of the Saturday match (5 p.m.). As a result, the first payment of TV rights (which is equivalent to around 15 million euros to be shared between the 18 elite clubs) has still not been made by beIN.

This Monday, After Foot also addressed the issue of sponsorship. In the initial agreement reached by the different entities, 20 of the 98.5 million euros promised by the group chaired by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi were linked to the display of Qatari sponsors on the jerseys of French clubs. But among the latter, certain teams, like OM or OL, are reluctant to meet this condition.

Editorialist at RMC, Daniel Riolo spoke of the concerns caused by this situation for several Ligue 1 teams, including FC Nantes. And according to his information, the Canaries are facing serious financial problems.

« It seems that in Nantes, they want to follow (editor’s note: the protest movement against beIN). Do you know that in Nantes, there are people who are starting to not get paid among the employees? There may be a social plan looming. The people of Nantes will start to cry, too. »
