ASSE – Laurent Batlles on his first season as coach of the Greens: “We had a team that was on track to claim to crush Ligue 2”

Discreet since the end of his adventureASSEthe former coach of ESTAC and the Greens in Ligue 2, Laurent battlesspoke at length on MaLigue2 for the eighth episode of our podcast. Looking for a new project, the French tactician decided to make another appearance, this time for the Dessous de Verts podcast. He notably returned to his adventures in Aube and Forez, as well as the rise of the Saint-Etienne team to the elite.

« I only wanted one thing: that this club would come back. I have experienced everything in this club, I have worked in many positions […] When I left for , I told them that I had not finished my course at Saint-Étienne. The goal was for me to succeed in Troyes and perhaps one day succeed in Saint-Étienne. Coaching the Saint-Étienne team was something that made me dream and I did it. With joys: the first year when we finished against , we had a team that really held its own to claim to be able to crush Ligue 2. I knew it. When you lose Niels (Nkounkou), Krasso and Kader Bamba and you have to rebuild something, it’s not easy. I was in front of my TV and I was very happy that it was coming on. »
