Why PSG and Kylian Mbappé are meeting again at the LFP this Tuesday

The representatives of Saint-Germain and those of Kylian Mbappé will appear this Tuesday, October 15 before the members of the LFP joint appeals committee. In the event of further failure of mediation between the Ile-de- club and its former striker, the payment or not of around 55 million euros in salaries and bonuses will have to be decided in court.

The last chance hearing to find an amicable solution? Before the resumption of La Liga with Real Madrid at the end of the week, Kylian Mbappé will still have to manage an extra-sporting affair in France. At the heart of a contractual conflict with PSG, the 25-year-old striker does not intend to give up nearly 55 million euros in bonuses and salaries. Opposite, the Ile-de-France club is still sticking to its positions and does not intend to pay such a sum to its former offensive star.

This Tuesday, the two parties will appear before the LFP’s joint appeals committee. This entity of the League will thus have to validate or refute the position of the legal commission which had, in mid-September, ordered PSG to pay the 55 million euros to Kylian Mbappé. A decision by the body which led to an appeal from the Parisian club.

A last chance for mediation via the LFP

In theory, therefore, the hearing before the Joint Appeals Committee should be the last before the LFP. If the members of the commission can make a decision this Tuesday, they will also be able to take the time to reflect for a few days and decide either in favor of Kylian Mbappé, or in favor of PSG or once again by insisting on the idea mediation between the player and his former team.

“After hearing the parties’ arguments in mid-September, the committee repeatedly insisted on the need for mediation between Paris Saint-Germain and the player in order to find a compromise in light of PSG’s clear arguments,” we continue to remind the side of the Ile-de-France club on this issue.

Problem is, if the different parties are still sticking to their positions this Tuesday before the LFP’s joint appeals committee, the body’s decision should not spell the end of this affair.

Heading to the court between Mbappé and PSG?

In the event of a new status quo and in the absence of possible mediation, still refused by Kylian Mbappé, PSG could bring the matter before another jurisdiction. And on this side, the club chaired by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi can appeal to the FFF (as a footballing body of reference), to the CNOSF with a view to conciliation or directly to justice: before an administrative court or to the industrial tribunal in order to assert the rights of the contract with the captain of the French team.

“What is under debate, and will ultimately be heard in an appropriate court, is that the original contract was legally modified, and also fully relied upon, by the player and PSG – until the player then decided to renounce all its commitments by leaving the club”, the club has been specifying for several weeks without changing its position in this matter. At PSG, we finally regret the desire of the Mbappé clan to pursue this affair which is clearly damaging to the image of the club where he spent seven years.

The tone rises between Mbappé and PSG before the hearing

It is in particular with reference to this hearing that Kylian Mbappé reacted to information from the Swedish press – relayed by RMC Sport – on an investigation by the Stockholm police concerning an alleged rape in the hotel (without the footballer or his relatives not be publicly accused of anything) where he stayed during his trip to Sweden.

Kylian Mbappé posted a message on X this Monday late afternoon to deny his involvement in this affair.

“Fake news. It’s becoming predictable, the day before the hearing as if by chance,” wrote the 2018 world champion on the eve of this hearing of the LFP’s joint appeals committee.

Making it clear that he is not involved in this affair – which is very clearly written in the RMC Sport article – the captain of the France team also addresses a tackle in PSG, in reference to the continuation of the conflict legal dispute between him and his former club regarding the payment of certain salaries and certain bonuses.

And Kylian Mbappé implies that Paris Saint-Germain would have a media agenda against him. Enough to irritate the French champions… “It’s a shame”, indicates a source close to PSG. Adding: “We will keep our class and our dignity.”
