On TV7, the Girondins de Bordeaux striker, Andy
Carrollspoke once again about the choice to sign in 4th division au FCGB.
“Obviously, Bordeaux is a great club, a great club. When I spoke to the manager, I thought it was a great project to try to move up to the higher leagues. I was excited to play regular football and help the club.”
He obviously had offers, notably to return to England.
“Now the opportunity to stay in England was there, but I just wanted to try another country. And then, when the opportunity in France came, I jumped straight on the train to take advantage of it.”
For several weeks now, he has been able to discover Bordeaux and the coast.
“Well, I’m really having fun on the team. The players are really good, they’re nice. Many of them speak very good English, so there is a good connection between us. And obviously, the city is a great place. I went to the beach, I went to town for dinner. It’s a beautiful place, I really love it. Yes, I went to Cap Ferret, it’s very beautiful (laughs).”
In any case, he did not come to Bordeaux for early retirement, since he even plans to continue for another five years.
“I hope to continue playing football for another five years. If I can do it, that would be great.”
