Saudi Arabia ready to come to the aid of DAZN?

In full disarray on the French ground, DAZN is not doing much better internationally. The British sports broadcaster which has aimed, since its creation in 2015, to become the “Netflix you sports», continues to stall financially. In 2021, in particular, DAZN suffered a massive loss of $2.3 billion (around 2.15 billion euros), according to figures revealed by the Bloomberg agency. These recurring difficulties would therefore have pushed the company to open up to new financing.

According to information from the English news agency Reuters, Saudi Arabia is one of the potential future investors. The Saudi Public Investment Fund has discussed a contribution of around $1 billion for a stake of around 10% in the broadcaster, again according to the same source. If the agreement is concluded between the two parties, this operation could greatly increase the influence of the Gulf country in European football, DAZN being, in fact, a broadcast partner of the Italian Serie A, the Spanish La Liga, the German Bundesliga, as well as the French Ligue 1.
