Bruno Genesio equals a record: “Everyone would have signed” for the start of the season at LOSC

The October international break begins this Monday and it is now time to take stock of the start of the LOSC season. This is more than satisfactory for Bruno Genesio, who also equals a record.

By defeating FC this Saturday (2-1), at home, LOSC concluded the second cycle of its season in fine fashion, provisionally rising to fourth place in the ranking, just behind Olympique de who some were already imagining the fight with Saint-Germain for the title. With thirteen points on the clock in 7 matches, Bruno Genesio has had the best start for a coach in the 21st century. Only René Girard had managed to achieve the same performance in recent years.

So, when he is asked to take stock of his start to the season, Bruno Genesio can only be satisfied: “Yes, he is good, but you always have to keep your cool and measure. We went through a period during which we were put in a bit of difficulty, particularly among my friends from Saint-Etienne. At that moment, there were perhaps hasty conclusions about the qualities of my team. Finally, we realize that, whether in the championship or in the European Cup, the start of the season is satisfactoryhe judges. We could have done better, we always can, but I think that if we had told LOSC at the end of May that they would qualify for the Champions League, that they would have beaten Real and that they would be fourth in Ligue 1 with 13 points, everyone would have signed. Obviously that’s good. Now we can do even better”he admitted with conviction.

The sequel nevertheless promises to be tough. With a reduced group at the break, many players are called up for selection, Bruno Genesio will have to face a busy schedule in the weeks to come: “We have a cycle of matches after the break which is quite incredible. We have an extraordinary schedule with three away matches and opponents like Monaco, Atlético and , then after that there will be , Juve and I think. We will have to recover well to have all our strength and be able to keep up with the pace”he concluded, aware that the hardest part is always what is to come.
