The Girondins de Bordeaux won 2-1 against Olympique de Saumur in National 2. A victory acquired thanks to a double header from Andy Carroll.
The fifth match was the good one. The Girondins de Bordeaux won their first match in National 2 (fourth division), Saturday October 5. A 2-1 victory against Olympique de Saumur, during which English striker Andy Carroll shone by scoring a double.
The 35-year-old veteran opened the scoring in the 34th minute by heading in a corner. The former Liverpool and West Ham center forward also distinguished himself in the air at the end of the match, in the 84th minute, to score the winning goal. Which gives him a total of four achievements in two contested matches.
Between his two goals, the Saumurois were able to equalize on a penalty converted by Wail Bouhoutt in the 73rd minute.
Six points in five games
With this unprecedented victory, Bordeaux moves to six points and climbs to 14th place, the first of non-relegation from Group B of N2. Bruno Irles’ men return to one point from 12th place occupied by Châteaubriant, who has two games in hand.
The Girondins’ next match is scheduled for October 19 against Avranches, at home. An opponent who has 9 points with two wins and three draws in seven games. The leader, Saint-Malo, has not yet experienced defeat and already has 17 points.
