Scheduled for this summer, the Club World Cup raises a lot of fears regarding its organization and planning, at the very end of the season. This week, FIFA proposed a measure that will allow participating clubs to better prepare for this new competition.
An additional tournament, with 32 teams, after an already very trying season? Here, in a few words, is the new concept of the Club World Cup. A project planned for the summer of 2025 between 32 teams from around the world, designed by Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA. While the biggest European clubs in particular are already complaining about overloaded calendars, the leaders of the international body have considered a measure to ensure that this Club World Cup takes place in the best conditions.
In a press release, FIFA submitted the idea of a new transfer window for qualified clubs just before the opening of the CDM.
“FIFA member associations of clubs participating in the FIFA Club World Cup will have the opportunity to open an exceptional registration period from June 1 to 10, 2025 (for all their affiliated clubs) before the start of the competition. The decision whether or not to open an additional period remains at the sole discretion of each FIFA member association concerned.
In other words, the 32 clubs qualified for the competition will be able to strengthen themselves from June 1 to 10, 2025, before the launch of the competition on June 15.
